MIMH has a rich history, spanning the last half of the 20th century to present. The Institute works to advance the understanding and treatment of mental and behavioral health. Our unique model creates a greater connection within the science to service approach, taking discoveries and transforming them into treatments.
MIMH’s cutting edge neuroscience labs work to uncover answers related to aging, TBI, neuro-aids, inflammation and other critical impacts on brain function. Our Education, Outreach and Evaluation Centers work to better equip communities and mental/behavioral health providers with the skills needed to apply science and evidence based practices when encountering individuals struggling with mental health concerns. MIMH has a long history of partnering with agencies such as the Missouri Department of Mental Health, The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration, and the National Institutes of Health to fund this important work.
Major shifts and improvement in clinical science requires pursuit of high-risk, high-reward research, which is an approach that is not often prioritized by federal funding sources. Individual giving plays a critical role. Financial support funds groundbreaking research that challenges existing models and forges new discovery that can aid early detection, influence development of unique treatment approaches, and provide tools for patient and family care. We need your support as the Institute continues to grow. Help us find answers for those struggling with mental health challenges.
We invite you to support the Institute’s outstanding work to accelerate discovery in the field of mental health, and help us pave the way for prevention, recovery, and a cure that can improve the lives of millions of individuals and families.
