Missouri National Alliance for Mental Illness: Empowering Ourselves, United Voices for Hope and Recovery

The MIMH partnered with the Missouri chapter of the National Alliance for Mental Illness and received a $70,000 grant from SAMHSA to implement an annual consumer advocacy and leadership training and a consumer lead, statewide speaker series entitled, In Our Own Voices. The MIMH is conducting the evaluation of this work using both quantitative and qualitative methodology. The evaluation assesses attitude change, mental health stigma reduction, and knowledge change.  In addition to the evaluation work, the MIMH analyzes an annual needs assessment gauging needs of the consumer advocacy and leadership training participants.

Screening and Brief Intervention in Missouri (MOSBIRT)

MOSBIRT is a substance abuse prevention project that has screened more than 200,000 Missourians in various medical settings for risky substance use behaviors. Those at risk are offered 1 to 6 brief evidence based sessions to reduce those risks. With this early intervention, individuals can reduce their risks and improve their health.
