Official Title: Boone County Project LAUNCH (Linking Actions for Unmet Needs in Children’s Health

The MIMH has partnered with the University of Missouri- Columbia’s Department of Psychiatry to conduct an evaluation of Project LAUNCH, a five-year, $3.25 million grant from the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Project LAUNCH aims to create a statewide coordinated system to support children, from birth to age 8, to thrive in safe, supportive environments, and enter school ready to learn and succeed. Project LAUNCH is being implemented through five strategies: home visitation, integration of behavioral and physical health, mental health consultation, screening and assessment, and family strengthening initiatives. The MIMH’s evaluation of Project LAUNCH assesses program implementation, systems change, and outcomes for providers, parents, and children throughout Boone County.

Screening and Brief Intervention in Missouri (MOSBIRT)

MOSBIRT is a substance abuse prevention project that has screened more than 200,000 Missourians in various medical settings for risky substance use behaviors. Those at risk are offered 1 to 6 brief evidence based sessions to reduce those risks. With this early intervention, individuals can reduce their risks and improve their health.
