ABOUT THE SURVEY

                The survey instrument for the Missouri 2002 Student Survey was originally developed for use in the six-state consortium for substance abuse prevention needs assessment studies sponsored by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP). This instrument is adapted from the "Student Survey of Risk and Protective Factors and Prevalence of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Use" developed by the Social Development Research Group (SDRG) at the University of Washington ( Hawkins et al., 1997). 
 

 
                   The project team at MIMH has made every effort to protect the rights of  students participating in the survey.  We obtained parental permission for students to participate prior to taking the survey. In addition, the project team developed procedures to assure that the confidentiality of students would be maintained.
